Reel 1, the Bear and the North Star are anchored against barrier ice. A snowmobile and supplies are unloaded. A Barkley-Grow seaplane is lowered to the water. Dog teams pull supply sleds from the ships. Shows seals and penguins. Reel 2, men are initiated as the North Star crosses the Equator. Reel 3, a snowmobile, sled dogs, and other supplies are loaded on the North Star at a Boston dock. A band plays. Adm. Byrd receives best wishes. Reel 4, an Equator initiation is held on the North Star. A sled is constructed on deck. The ship plows through bay ice. The Bear sails through a snow storm. Supplies are unloaded onto ice with derricks. Reel 5, the North Star is anchored to barrier ice. A whale plays off shore. A Barkley-Grow seaplane taxis on ice. Tractors and other supplies are unloaded. Dogs are harnessed and pull supply sleds. Stores are buried in snow. Men ski. Reel 6, a snowmobile rolls down a ramp from the North Star and onto ice. Seals play. Stores are unloaded from the ship.
